London Road redesign proposals
Since the Council decided to make the cycle lane (with the white wands) permanent on London Road, a discussion Councillor Caldwell has had with Council officers is about how to ensure it's in-keeping with the New Town Conservation Area, and the extended pavements at Hillside Crescent are made safer.
The Council has sent the below designs for comment.
Leith Walk Lib Dem Councillor Jack Caldwell says: "While I largely welcome them, I will be raising concerns about removing the two traffic islands: one at each end of Hillside Crescent. Although its not immediately obvious on the plans, I believe if these disappeared, they would fundamentally make it harder for Hillside/Easter Road/Leith residents to cross into town by foot and they should be kept as an option as well as a traffic calming measure.
If you have any thoughts or concerns about the designs and are a Leith Walk ward constituent, please email cllr.jack.caldwell@edinburgh.gov.uk. Please note due to the high volume of emails, I can only respond or pass on ones from constituents within the Leith Walk ward."
