The Liberal Democrat Council group have been working on Budget proposals and talking cross-party for a number of months while acknowledging a dire econmoic outlook for Edinburgh, with £20m more of cuts coming from the Scottish government.

At February's Council meeting, Councillor Caldwell voted not only to halt the £8.2m cuts proposed to the Education Budget, but for £2m across all of Edinburgh's schools (including Leith Walk ward's 4 catchment Secondary Schools and 6 Primary Schools), as well as new funding streams for new Road Safety projects, tackling child poverty, planting trees, pavement surfacing, toilets for Leith Links, Water of Leith projects, Council house repairs and much more.

Like last year, any of the budget proposals put forward could pass, but Lib Dems also negotiated with the Labour Administration to amend some of these proposals into their budget.
