Leith Walk's public transport needs support

Leith Walk Lib Dem councillor Jack Caldwell is calling for extra capacity on the buses where possible.

Jack wrote to Lothian Buses after the fire highlighting concerns about how busy the buses are.

Commenting on the trams being off for their fourth week “Buses are consistently packed. When the trams were installed, a number of bus services were re-routed away from Leith so we don't have that capacity. What concerns me most is how this is affecting residents with disabilities and parents and carers pushing prams. They're the most likely to be affected by a full bus."

“We should also be looking at how the £5m support fund from the Scottish Government could be utilised for supported buses to help manage the numbers of people”.

He has posted a video on Facebook detailing the three questions he is posing to the administration:

1️⃣ Will the Council monitor how uncomfortably busy our buses are? 

2️⃣ Will the Council Administration acknowledge the reduction of buses in 2023 to make way for the tram? 

3️⃣ Will the £5m emergency fund announced today go towards additional bus provision?
