Double Yellow Line changes around Pilrig, Bonnington, Broughton, Hillside, Abbeyhill and Leith: TRO consultations open

The Council have two Traffic Regulation Orders (TROs) have opened for public comment to change a number of road markings in the area.

Parking changes to accomodate bin hubs (TRO/25/03)

The full, comprehensive list of bin moves and proposed Double Yellow Line changes have been published under "TRO/25/03".

A large number of streets and communal bins in Leith, Bonnington, Abbeyhill, Pilrig and Bellevue are affected so please share if you can think of anyone who may wish to put a comment/objection in before 13th May.

Some of the bin hub changes proposed have been previously written about in this blog post.

Some of the more significant changes proposed include a longer double yellow line all the way down one side of Graham Street and on Bonnington Grove and below are the list of changes proposed for each area alongside the corresponding parking zone code, which is how they're organised in the document.

  • Bonnington: 4 changes proposed
  • Leith Walk / Easter Road / Pilrig (N7): 36 changes proposed
  • Abbeyhill and Bothwell Street (N6): 16 changes proposed
  • Bellevue / Hillside (N1): 27 changes proposed

Comments should be made via edinburgh.gov.uk before 13th May 2025.

Parking changes to accomodate cycle hangars (TRO/25/07)

The full, comprehensive list of proposed cycle hangar installations and subsequent Double Yellow Line have been published under "TRO/25/07".

This includes proposed installations on:

  • Pilrig Street
  • Halmyre Street (x2)
  • East Claremont Street
  • Murano Place
  • Spey Terrace
  • Springfield
  • Springfield Street
  • Stead's Place
  • Thorntree Street
  • Wellington Street

Comments should be made via edinburgh.gov.uk before 16th May 2025.

Leith Walk ward Lib Dem Councillor Jack Caldwell said “TRO consultations are legal processes that Councils have to go through under the Highway Act. While I'd encourage residents who may be affected to get any comments in, I won't be pushing a specific narrative or influence in order to respect residents knowing their own streets best.”
