Alex raises River Almond sewage concern

7 Feb 2024

After national news reports singled out the River Almond as one of the most polluted in the country, Alex Cole-Hamilton has ramped up the Lib Dem campaign to overhaul the sewage industry. The much loved West Edinburgh water-way even caught the attention of prominent sewage campaigner and former pop star Fergal Sharkey, who voiced his concern about the number of sewage spills into the river caused by Scottish Water which is owned by the Scottish Government. Alex said:

“The Scottish Lib Dems want to bring forward a new Clean Water Act which would monitor the full extent of the sewage dumping problem, ban sewage dumping in swimming and fishing areas, and upgrade Scotland’s Victorian sewage system.”
