The Liberal Democrats are the only party working to fulfil this promise of a fair deal.”
He has committed himself to the service of his community and to listening to the real-life struggles faced by those in Edinburgh North and Leith. He has a vision for a UK based on the non-negotiables of:
Mike grew up in South Africa where he studied for his Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws degrees before becoming a Practicing Attorney of the High Court of South Africa.
Giving back has always been important to Mike and he has been an active member of his community through chairing his community association and sitting as an elected member of his ward committee.
He moved to Edinburgh in 2022 after falling in love with the unique character of the city, broader Scotland, and the wider United Kingdom. This passion for his chosen country and his desire to give back to the community has led him to join and become an active member of the Liberal Democrats.
In 2024, Mike was selected as the Scottish Liberal Democrat prospective Westminster parliamentary candidate for Edinburgh North and Leith.
He lives in Edinburgh with his husband and dog.
In May 2022, the Liberal Democrats won 12 Councillors across the City of Edinburgh, holding 6 seats and adding a further 6. In fact, we only narrowly came in second across Edinburgh.
Our Councillors continue to be seen for their hard work and dedication. We continue to prove that we work hard for voters, prioritise community services and support people across Edinburgh. This has been shown again and again by the three Councillors we have in Edinburgh North and Leith. Mike is delighted to have the opportunity to stand beside his Scottish Liberal Democrat colleagues.
The Edinburgh North and Leith constituency currently has three elected Lib Dem Councillors who publish updates on their webpages. Follow the links below to learn more about them and get their contact details.
