Councillor Caldwell and the Lib Dems have secured an investigation into the rise in traffic on Easter Road, Albert Street, Brunswick Road and Dalmeny Street.

The calls for a full investigation came to Edinburgh's Transport and Environment committee from the Lib Dems among reports from local residents that the impact on the Trams to Newhaven Project and Leith Walk redesign has had on densely-populated residential side streets.

Councillor Caldwell said "It's unfair to ask residents to put up with more traffic than before, and I'm shocked that this wasn't taken into consideration by Councillors before the project started. Both anecdotal evidence and data I've gathered supports the theory that traffic has been majorly displaced since the works began, and the levels haven't seemed to reduce much since Leith Walk was opened back up."

Along with this review, the Lib Dems also called for the two primary schools along the side streets to be considered (Leith Walk Primary School and Lorne Primary School) and greater transparency on the Road Safety Audits that have taken place as part of the Trams to Newhaven Project.
