Craigievar House Fire

5 Jul 2023

After the terrible fire at Craigievar House, the community came together to support residents whose lives have been turned upside down.

Donations were collected at East Craigs Church Centre and Corstorphine Community Centre, and many local people gave incredibly generously.

Sadly though, several residents of Craigievar House are still  in temporary accommodation and none have yet been able to go back and collect important belongings.

Local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley said, "I raised this situation with the Council Leader at the recent meeting of the Council, and will continue to support residents' push for some security in their living arrangements.

"For a start that means getting them access to their homes as soon as possible to retrieve essential items, and working with the property managers to make sure everyone has security in where they are staying until they can get home permanently."
