The Liberal Democrats have proposed an ambitious alternative Council budget for FY 2024/2025 after the Lib Dem budget passed last year.

🚶‍♀️👨‍🦽🚴‍♂️🚗🚌 £12.5m more for extra pavement, path and road repairs; a figure which even beats the record amount spent thanks to last year’s Lib Dem budget.

⚽️ Giving Edinburgh Leisure all the money needed to avoid the leisure centre and swimming pool closures proposed just two months ago.

🌳 £1m extra for trees and tree care, with more money for supported buses, and new investment in energy efficiency, all showing our commitment to addressing the climate and nature emergency.

👍 Extra funds focussed on child poverty and those struggling to pay for their housing.

🏫 As a group, the Liberal Democrats decided it wasn’t just good enough to “stop the cuts”. So, our budget includes the money to avoid the proposed cuts and goes further – we actually have £2m for teachers to spend in primary and secondary schools.
