Glasgow Road Speed Limit

5 Jul 2023

The plan to reduce the speed limit from 40 to 30mph on Glasgow Road, Queensferry Road, South Gyle Broadway and South Gyle Access, has been delayed again.

In a question to the Transport Convener at the most recent Council meeting, local Lib Dem councillor Ed Thornley asked when the changes, originally agreed in January last year, would finally be brought in.

The answer from the Convener was that the reduction to 30mph would now not happen over the summer as planned, but instead could only say they would be "hopefully" complete by March next year.

Ed said, "This is of course incredibly disappointing. By March next year it will have been over two years since the decision was originally made. Time in which people have still been crossing and walking along these roads.

"Several residents get in touch with me every month with their concerns about traffic speed on Glasgow Road. I had hoped this was a higher priority than it seems to be.

"We'll be keeping on top of this one, and pushing for the fastest possible implementation."
