Flood prevention works in Roseburn Park along the Water of Leith are progressing and the contractors have begun pile-driving. At the time of writing, the vehicle access bridge to the ice-rink has been closed, although pedestrians still have access via the footbridge. The contractors' hours have been extended from 6 am to 8 pm.
Local Liberal Democrat councillor Paul Edie said, “This prevention work is hugely important to residents, many of whom were very badly affected by flooding in the past. At the last council election, one of my key election pledges was to do all I could to get this flood prevention in place. The work is ongoing; it isn’t at the moment pretty, but it is essential to safeguard people’s homes."
