The Planning Advance Notice has been issued for the proposed residential development on the site of the former ST Microelectronics building in Pinkhill Park, an early stage in the planning process. The developers, Dandara, have lodged proposals for a seven-storey apartment block. Local residents were able to find out more about the plans at public exhibitions in January and early March.
Liberal Democrat candidate Gillian Gloyer commented, "We all know that there's a desperate need for housing in Edinburgh and obviously it's better to build it on a brown-field site like this. However, this huge number of new flats would mean additional pressure on local services like GPs and schools, never mind increased traffic and demand for parking. The height of the proposed development is also a concern."
Local MSP Alex-Cole-Hamilton added, "I would encourage local residents to engage with the consultation process. It's important any development has their approval."
There will be further opportunities to be consulted as the planning progresses and further planning permission is sought.
