The problem with short term lets

We're aware of the problem of increasing numbers of whole properties being let short through outlets such as AirBnB. Some lets are causing considerable nuisance to residents - and this particularly affects the city centre.

There are particular issues regarding late night noise, and the additional parking of 3 or4 extra cars in already crowded streets can make life difficult for residents.

It's changing the character of some areas are landlords rent their propoerties to short term visitors rather than families. Liberal Democrats are value the contribution that visitors make to the city's culture and  economy, but we will press for short term lets to be properly licenced and regulated, and for whole properties let short term for more than 90 days a year to be be taxed as businesses.
