Targets to decarbonise schools have been put forward by Scottish Liberal Democrats MSPs.
The proposals put down by Liam McArthur MSP would introduce new duties to consider how to connect schools to Green Heat Networks as part of a bid drive to de-carbonise the school estate.
Rebecca Bell, Scottish Lib Dem candidate for Edinburgh North and Leith, said: "Liberal Democrats are pushing for a bolder and more ambitious environmental policy. We cannot accept anything less if we hope to turn the tide on global warming.
"Young people have clearly set us a challenge to do better with the school strikes. I hope we can see this voted in by Parliament and children will be learning in more sustainable buildings."
