Tackling speeding in Morningside

The 20 mph speed limit is regularly ignored and inadequately enforced.  Based on concerns about speeding traffic on 20 mph roads, I asked the Council to conduct traffic and speed counts at known speeding ‘hot spots’ across the ward.

Average speeds in excess of 24 mph were recorded on Marchmont Road (24.2), Balcarres Street (25.2), Hermitage Drive (25.7), Braid Hills Road (26), the southern part of Braid Road (26.3) and Midmar Drive (27.7).  I have asked the Council to propose effective measures to tackle excessive speeding on these roads.  Also, based on feedback from residents, proposals are being made to reduce the speed limit to 20 mph on Cluny Gardens and Greenbank Crescent.
