Many of us have taken on new hobbies and ways of exercising during lockdown. Outdoor swimming has become even more popular, especially in Edinburgh where we have easy access to the sea.
Some of us have headed to our nearby coastline for a bracing dip in the water, and Wardie Bay is a popular spot. I've joined campaigners to push the Government and SEPA to grant it bathing water status.
This would mean the quality is monitored which would benefit not only those enjoying it as a place to swim but also the surrounding wildfire in and out of the water. The application went in last year, and we are still waiting on a decision from the minister. With very little cost at all, giving bathing water status to Wardie Bay would be an immediate benefit to those enjoying a swim and our environment.
