Speed Limit Reductions Update July22

Lots of residents have been in touch concerned about continued delays to the implementation of the agreed new speed limits on several local roads.

Robert and Ed have been working to find how these delays have happened, and when we can expect the new speed limits to be brought in.

A contractor is being engaged by the Council this summer to make up designs for the changes. These changes will be a reduction from 40mph to 30mph on the following roads: Glasgow Road, Queensferry Road, South Gyle Broadway and South Gyle Access.

Ed said, "Given the changes were agreed in January, I was very surprised to learn that six months later there are no designs in place yet.

"Once a contractor has been engaged there is a whole process that must be undertaken, and there is not yet a date for completion.

"It's obviously not encouraging to see delays this extensive. Several residents have been in touch telling Robert and I about accidents that they have had, or nearly had, as a result of high speed traffic on these roads.

"Robert and I will continue to push for these changes to be implemented as soon as possible - it must not take another six months to get this done."
