Saturday 22 January 2022
South Edinburgh Liberal Democrats have been holding a regular Burns Supper every year since 1997. Last year Alistair Carmichael MP gave the Immortal Memory in our first ever virtual Burns Supper.
Whilst we had planned to do an in-person supper this year, the recent uncertainty over the Omicron variant has resulted in the 2022 Burns Supper again being a virtual event. We cannot let the pandemic stop us celebrating the memory of Robert Burns, having fun and raising a little money for the campaign to elect some new councillors to the City Chambers in May.
You will have to supply your own cock-a-leekie soup, haggis neeps and tatties and pudding. However we will deliver an array of speakers, a Zoom link, and a prize for the best national dress costume.
You do not have to be in Edinburgh to enjoy the event and support our campaign here in South Edinburgh.
We have a fantastic array of speakers.
- Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP, Leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats will deliver the Immortal Memory,
- Cllr Ben Lawrie will give the Toast to the Lassies, and
- Molly Nolan will give the reply.
- The Haggis will be addressed by Rebecca Wright.
Here in South Edinburgh we have a real prospect of electing Pauline Flannery and Louise Spence to join Cllr Neil Ross at the City Chambers, and every penny raised from the Burns Supper will be spent in our campaign between now and polling day.
We are setting the recommended minimum donation for a ticket at £20 (£10 for students and those in receipt of benefits), but if you can give more to help our fantastic candidates in the Scottish Parliament election in May that would be a real help to our campaign. Choose how much you would like to donate below.
Please note that due to an ongoing issue with PayPal, payments will have to be made via bank transfer. Once you've RSVP'd look out for an email with details of how to make payment for the event.
