Bus services in West Edinburgh have been subjected to cut after cut in recent years.
Now, First Bus have announced their intention not to continue running the Number 68 service. This vital bus currently runs from Turnhouse to the Gyle, through East Craigs, Clermiston and Drum Brae. It's removal would sever many people's links to shops and the wider community.
This announcement will only add to local people's transport misery.
Local councillor Robert Aldridge, who campaigned to introduce the 68 originally, and to save it since, said "This is a lifeline service. It being withdrawn now would be a disaster."
Ed Thornley added, "We're working with our local MSP, MP and council colleagues to find a solution, be that direct replacement or some other method. The important thing is that this service must not disappear.
"While that is going on though, we've launched a petition so people can have their say, and show just how strongly residents feel about this proposed cut."
