I am pleased to report that the proposal to improve the crossing on Pentland Terrace near Riselaw Crescent and Comiston Springs Avenue has now been added to the Council’s priority list and approved by the Council’s Transport & Environment Committee.
It joins a queue of 58 locations on the priority list. Because of financial constraints only 10-12 crossings are built each year, so construction of the crossing improvements on Pentland Terrace is scheduled for the financial year 2022/23. I am, of course, pleased that my campaign working with local residents has resulted in crossing improvements but disappointed that it may take at least four years before they are made.
I understand that options for improvements are likely to take the form of enhancements to the existing refuge island and/or new pavement build outs. The design process is likely to begin 18-24 months before the projected construction date, so probably in 2020/21.
I will continue to campaign for pedestrian crossing improvements and will report any further developments in the Citizen newsletter.
