Parking Controls coming to Leith, Pilrig and Bonnington

At todays Transport and Environment Committee, the long-awaited Controlled Parking Zones around Leith Walk, Easter Road, Pilrig and Bonnington were approved. This will allow the Council to better manage the double-parking chaos on roads like Dalmeny Street from early next year.
Edinburgh Liberal Democrats supported both zones becoming Controlled Parking Zones, but had concerns about the proposed zone in North Leith.
The Lib Dems got an additional amendment passed for a consultation in six months on the brand-new PPA scheme around Rossie Place and the Abbeyhill Colonies.
Councillor Jack Caldwell said;
"I'm also grateful to say that the Committee agreed to the Edinburgh Liberal Democrats amendment I worked on to ensure there's a consultation six-months after the Zone goes live for residents on the east-side of Easter Road.
Listening and responding to concerns must be a core tenant on every decision and although we lost out on bin hubs, sometimes it's nice to get a wee win."
