North East Edinburgh needs affordable & social-rent housing

The 2030 City Plan has been published after cross-party toing and froing. You can view the draft online at and you’ll be able to feed in from November.

Lib Dem Councillor Hal Osler voted to ensure the plan would both protect Edinburgh’s greenbelt and that developers make use of derelict brownfield sites for mixed use housing, vitally including a minimum 35% affordable housing contribution - up from 25%. Edinburgh residents are finding it difficult to get secure tenancy and that needs to change now!

Local resident and member Jack Caldwell said "With all the new developments happening around our area, it's important that all types of housing are accomodated to, including social-rent and affordable housing. We can't afford to price people out of the community".
