An SNP / Labour proposal to create a new school to replace Currie Community High School and Wester Hailes Education Centre is opposed by local people.
The SNP / Labour Administration’s consultation featured the closure of Currie Community High School, Woodlands School and Wester Hailes Education Centre, the creation of a new school and the expansion of Balerno Community High School.
This proposal was met with near universal condemnation by residents who don’t want to lose their high achieving local schools, which are easy to reach on foot and provide important hubs for community sports and activities.
Thanks to tireless campaigningfrom the Save Our Schools group as well as parent and community councils, Council officials have produced three alternative proposals.
Pentlands Lib Dems share the public view that these schools are at the heart of our communities and provide much more than classroom teaching.
We support retaining all four schools and investing in them to cater for the needs of an increasing pupil population.
