The Council has recently announced that 98 new spaces will be added to the existing B2 Priority Parking Area (PPA), just to the south of the railway line in Morningside. 74 of them will be added in the next six to eight weeks and the remaining 24 after around 12 months.
Spaces will be added in Comiston Gardens (6), Cluny Drive (11), Ethel Terrace (5), Braid Avenue (6), Braid Road (14), Braid Crescent (23) and Comiston Terrace (9). These can be accommodated within the existing traffic regulation order (TRO) used to set up the B2 PPA.
There will be a delay before spaces can be added in Morningside Drive (10) and additional spaces in Cluny Drive (9) and Ethel Terrace (5). This is because another TRO is required and this process can take up to 12 months to complete.
The analysis of the results of the consultation into parking to the west of Comiston Road are expected to be announced in the near future. The proposals for extending the B2 PPA eastwards and southwards will be detailed in a formal consultation and this is expected to start sometime over the summer.
