Community use for the Sick Kids site

With the services of the Sick Kids Hospital moving to Little France, the famous site on the edge of the Meadows is now up for sale.  Initial bids have come in from a large number of developers, including the people behind Summerhall.  However, there is also an innovative community right to buy initiative being organised by the newly formed Marchmont and Sciennes Development Trust, with the endorsement of the Community Council

This is a boost to the campaign by my colleague Dan Farthing, the Liberal Democrat candidate in Southside Newington, to push for part of the site to be used to expand Sciennes Primary School.  The trust has already said it is open to using part of the site in this way, if that is what local people decide they want.

I am happy to support both campaigns and would encourage local people to support our petition to make sure that the Council gets first refusal to expand Sciennes Primary School into part of the Sick Kids at
