At June’s Transport and Environment Committee a report was presented setting out several options for consultation on possible Low Emission Zones.
For the SNP/Labour Administration the preferred option is to have a much smaller zone only covering the city centre. You can see the proposed boundaries above.
This was a hugely scaled down proposal compared to the Administration’s initial plans in 2019. In their amendment Lib Dems proposed that this be reconsidered because communities just outside this small zone would see increased levels of non-compliant vehicles (including tourist buses, coaches, vans and HGVs) seeking to avoid the restricted area.
Sadly this proposal was not accepted by the SNP/Labour Administration so the smaller zone will now be consulted upon instead. You can find the consultation here:
