Low Emission Zone Disappointment

During last weeks transport and environment committee meeting Lib Dem Councillors proposed that the council's new Low Emission Zone was extended to the whole city, rather than being restricted to a very small part of the City Centre.

Unfortunately all other parties, including the Greens, chose to vote this proposal down.

Corstorphine/Murrayfield ward contains some of the most polluted streets in Scotland. The decision to exclude our communities is extremely disappointing and does nothing to tackle the public health scourge of air pollution.

We want to assure you that we will keep campaigning for a citywide scheme to tackle air pollution and are particularly vigilant to the risks that displacement of vehicles from the City Centre poses.
