Local MSP calls for Action on Drug Deaths

Scotland has recorded the worst drug death rates in the entire world for yet another year.

The figures show that last year over 1200 people sadly lost their lives to drug use. That's nearly 4 times the rate in England.

Local MSP Alex Cole-Hamilton challenged the Government in Parliament and said, "The SNP Government have handed down a year on year cut to drugs services.

"We used to have hundreds of drug-rehab beds and now we only have a couple of dozen. These deaths were preventable but the SNP have neglected this vital issue.

"We need radical investment in residential rehab if we are to finally begin to tackle Scotland's hidden drug death challenges."
