Lib Dems pass Pavement Parking motion... highlighting Leith Walk

Today's Council meeting sees a plan to start enforcing pavement parking controls from December 2023, when the Scottish Government devolves the power to Edinburgh Council.

Leith Walk ward councillor Jack Caldwell said; "I'm very pleased to second Councillor Lang's 'Pavements For People' motion tomorrow and grateful for Living Streets' backing. The freedom for residents to walk and wheel without obstruction is a very reasonable request, and Edinburgh needs to be ready for incoming Pavement Parking legislation. We currently see examples every day on Leith Walk, which is sad when the public width is around roughly 80% road, 10% cycle lane and 10% pavement. We need the Scottish Government to give us the power to enforce this sooner."
