Lib Dems demand action on dangerous roads and pavements

Local Liberal Democrat candidates, Ed Thornley and Robert Aldridge have demanded the SNP-run council take urgent action to address the ‘dangerous’ state of local roads and pavements.

Residents across Drum Brae/Gyle, and indeed all of Edinburgh, are angry at the dreadful condition of so many streets, with potholes and broken pavements throughout the community.

Ed Thornley said, “Fixing our roads and pavements is one of the most basic jobs of any Council. Yet, throughout the area, we see potholes and broken pavements. “SNP councillors were wrong to vote down the local Lib Dem plan to invest millions more in road and pavement resurfacing. This could have made a real difference."

A key Lib Dem promise in the upcoming council elections is to ‘get the basics right’, focusing on the essential public services people rightly expect in return for the council tax they pay.

Cllr Robert Aldridge said, “We will continue to fight for the investment the local community needs and report potholes and broken pavements for repair. Local people can do likewise at www.edinburgh.gov.uk/roadproblem and let us know if nothing is resolved”.
