Jardine opposes plans for 24 hour asphalt plant

Local residents have been shocked to learn about a proposals for a 24/7 Asphalt Plant to be built in Ratho. Christine Jardine, our local MP, is supporting residents who have contacted her to oppose the plans.

“A huge number of people have contacted me in the past few days,” said Lib Dem Christine.

“People are rightly concerned about the health and environmental impact of these proposals, as well as the impact on traffic and road safety.”

The plans include a 30m high plant, sheds and large stockpiles on the green field site which is just 700m away from Ratho homes. Up to 365 HGV trucks could visit the plant each day at peak times under
the plans. The proposals seek permission to operate the plant until 2052.
