Inverleith Park is a fantastic place used for all sorts of activities, from individuals and local groups through to national events. As many people have pointed out, recently the park has suffered from flooding at the central crossroads.
The drainage system possibly needs some costly repairs and with the Council’s resources for our green spaces being very limited, a
particular plan needs to be developed.
Hal Osler put a motion to the full Council on 21 September to ask the Council to carry out the repairs and as a result, the Council’s Transport and Environment Committee has been asked to report on the matter.
Hal Osler said: “Standing water is a health risk to people and animals and we need to investigate this problem and stop the flooding. Young and old enjoy the green spaces around our city all year round and many thanks to all the people who wrote, rang and commented to me about their concerns.
“I am comforted to know how many people care about this wonderful park and are concerned about its welfare”.
