A report was tabled at the Culture and Communities Committee in June, regarding long overdue investment in the City’s parks, greenspace and cemeteries.
Not all the areas have been surveyed yet but so far over £4m of works have been identified within the report’s priority one and two categories.
Hal Osler said, “For a long time now our green spaces have been suffering from chronic under-investment and this report shines a light on how bad the situation has become. When I was elected in 2017 the first motion I brought to Council was about damaged drainage in Inverleith Park.
"Every year since, I have asked for repair costs to be included within the budget and finally after four years we have a commitment that it will be done. I am obviously pleased that this is going ahead but disappointed that it has taken so long and many other projects still remain unfunded.”
