Getting Home Safe

One of the problems that has been highlighted as a barrier to walking/wheeling/cycling in our city is that some people do not feel safe on our streets and in our public spaces.

Hal Osler says” I presented a motion to Council asking that when the Council is designing or changing space, thought be given to how the space is actually designed from a safety perspective.

"For example, is it well lit? Well maintained? Busy or quiet? The important point which slowly is becoming better understood, is that an area does not have to be “unsafe” for people to feel unsafe.

"If we are really serious about supporting individuals to walk/wheel/cycle it’s vital that they feel safe to do so.”
