The charge for Garden Waste collection is to increase this year to £35.
Liberal Democrats opposed the introduction of this charge in 2018, and opposed the increase this year. However, the SNP/Labour administration pushed it through.
Ed Thornley said, "The charge increase is bad enough, but it's not even the only problem with the system. The fact that you can only register at certain times of year can mean missing the deadline and not getting your waste collected until the next registration window.
"It's ridiculous that we have a system where local people can be left having to put perfectly recyclable waste in non-recycling bins, and then paying for the privilege. People want to recycle and do their bit for the environment, so why do we have this system standing in their way?"
Registration is now open, until the 1st of September, for next year's garden waste collection and you can find it here.
The new service year will begin on the 8th of November.
