I recently visited the site of the former Boroughmuir High School to see the progress being made on its redevelopment by Cala Homes.
Despite the scaffolding on the outside, it is still in the demolition stage, as near neighbours know only too well. The annex has gone, along with the roof of the gymnasium, and the internal walls are being removed. The windows are also being removed to be ‘dipped and stripped’ of lead paint before being completely restored and returned. The slates have been temporarily taken down so that the roof timbers can be treated. They even found the old bell, which will be offered to the school. I understand from discussion with the Cala team that work is proceeding more or less according to plan.
