EU Citizens Settled Status

The Citizens Rights Project is concerned that many EU citizens have not yet applied for Settled Status in the UK and that, after many years of living here, they may be forced to leave.

They have provided the information below and asked me to share it.

Are you an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen, or do you know someone who is? A new form of legal residence, called Settled or Pre-Settled Status, is coming in and replaces all previous residential status apart from Indefinite Leave to Remain.

Anyone from the above areas who lived in the UK on 31st December 2020 and wishes to continue to do so must apply for the new status for themselves and their children by 30th June 2021. This is the only way of continuing to access the rights and benefits to which they were entitled before the UK left the EU.

The information from the UK government is on the internet at

For expert help in a variety of European languages and referral to free legal assistance if needed, please contact Citizens' Rights Project – Providing information, advice and support for EU citizens in Scotland at

Many people do not know about this, some think it does not apply to them. So please help our friends and neighbours from the EU and spread the word .
