Edinburgh Airport Flight Path Clarity

Christine Jardine has secured a parliamentary debate on the continuing lack of clarity over future flight paths for UK airports which is a major concern for residents in Edinburgh West.

The impasse over new proposals for Edinburgh has already lasted almost six years with several consultation processes and redrawn proposals submitted by the airport. She is keen for all those involved to have an update on the process overseen by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Previous plans which Edinburgh Airport submitted were rejected by the Civil Aviation Authority in October 2018. The whole process had to be restarted and go through the new five stages which are part of the national air space planning known as CAP1616.

Christine said: “So many of my constituents contact me on a regular basis and both they and the airport have been looking for clarity on the future for some time now and deserve answers.

“I appreciate that the Civil Aviation Authority has a process to go through, and that it will take time but we need better communication on what is happening and update in parliament would help.

"This has been a point of frustration for my constituents where noise and air pollution are consistent problems.”
