In 2019, he became convenor of the South Edinburgh local party and a member of the LGBT+ Liberal Democrats’ Executive, speaking out on issues such as self-identification for the trans community and the provision of HIV/Aids preventative medicine (PrEP) on the NHS. As South Edinburgh convenor, he has worked to strengthen the local party and ensure its executive is more diverse and representative of the community at large.
Fraser’s values and priorities:
- Build back smarter, greener and fairer: As an architect, I know we need to do more to combat climate change in the way we build for a carbon neutral future for the Lothians. We must promote energy efficiency and aim for zero-carbon homes and We also need more affordable homes for the many low-income households in Edinburgh priced out of the market or financially impacted by the pandemic.
- Improve public transport: As the child of a railway worker, I have a great appreciation for our transport infrastructure. We must rebuild Scotland’s once booming railways to serve more communities, reduce car use and air pollution, and improve access to commuter
- I am an unequivocal advocate for LGBT+ rights: As a bisexual man, I’ve experienced homophobia and biphobia first-hand. I will fight tirelessly for banning gay conversion therapy, for reform of the Gender Recognition Act and to ensure delivery of LGBT+ inclusive education in schools
“I'm campaigning for Scotland to have a needle-sharp focus on recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic, with a focus on key issues such as the climate emergency, transport, education and mental health. Now is the time to come together as a partnership for recovery.”
