Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre

Drylaw Neighbourhood Centre was very close to having to close its doors due to a lack of funding.

Full Council motions supported by all 5 parties agreed that emergency funding could be provided, subject to due diligence checks being done by Officers.

Despite funding being agreed to in June and a degree of chasing, by October funding had still not been released by the Council. On Friday 4th November, hours before the Centre would have to close its doors forever, the much discussed funding was finally delivered.

Hal Osler said, “When I proposed the motion in June for funding that won cross-party agreement I did not expect to have to spend 4 months chasing officers for updates. I am extremely grateful to the Management Board of the Centre for all their hard work and I look forward to continuing to work with them going forward.”
