The installation of a segregated cycle lane on Drum Brae North has been done by the council under its emergency Covid 19 regulations in the Spaces for People programme.
The changes are therefore temporary and were not subject to the usual level of consultation. They are subject to review every 2 months or when there is a significant change to the Covid situation.
Lib Dem Councillor Robert Aldridge said, "I believe they are unnecessary given the relatively small number of cyclists who venture over the top of Drum Brae, and may make the road more dangerous given the hatched area at the brow of the hill has been removed. It was installed after a fatal accident some years ago."
The separate consultation on a potential Low Traffic Neighbourhood in North Gyle and Craigmount has now closed. Many residents were unhappy with the questions which did not give the chance to say directly that they opposed it. We now await the results of the analysis of the responses and any proposals arising from it.
