Back in Spring 2020 during the first lockdown, the recycling centre at Craigleith Retail Park was withdrawn from service and the facility has remained closed ever since.
Hal Osler said, “This centre is operated by Sainsbury’s and every few months I have asked officers to press Sainsbury’s as to when this much needed resource will be back up and running.
"Sadly at present Sainsbury’s have not indicated when or even if they will be re-opening the centre. This is putting huge pressure on communal recycling bins in areas like Comely Bank and Learmonth as many residents are using these instead.
"I will continue to press Sainsbury’s to re-open the site but would ask individuals please not to leave excess waste by communal bins because this is causing misery to residents living in those areas.”
