Missed bin?

Has your scheduled bin collection been missed? You can report a missed collection - of landfill, recycling or food bins - on-line or by phone. On the Council website, go to www.edinburgh.gov.uk/report and click on the option 'Missed bin collection'. Please note that there is a different option to report an overflowing communal bin. By phone, you should call the dedicated 'Waste Enquiries' number: 0131 608 1100.

Wintry weather

The cold snap has brought treacherous pavements and roads throughout Roseburn and Saughtonhall. The Council has a priority system for gritting roads, pavements and cycle-paths. In freezing or snowy weather, the first roads to be treated include bus routes and roads to hospitals, care homes and schools. Only the priority routes will be treated outside normal working hours.

People who live in the areas around the tram stations at Murrayfield, Balgreen and Saughton often complain to Councillor Gillian
Gloyer about commuters parking their cars in residential streets before jumping on a tram into town or out to the airport.

Good news for park users

Users of Roseburn Park have got their park back at last! The flood prevention works have now been completed, on budget and on time, and plans are under way to improve the facilities in the park. A new children's playpark will replace the old one which, because of the height of the flood-walls, is now in rather a hidden corner. The new playpark will be at the Roseburn Place end of the park and will have activities for slightly older children, as well as the younger ones who have enjoyed the existing one until now.

Rejuvenating Roseburn

Residents may have taken part in one of the Rejuvenating Roseburn consultation events on the future of the area around the Old Colt Bridge and Murrayfield Avenue. These included workshop sessions with Roseburn Primary pupils and a public exhibition on the Bridge itself.

The proposed development at Pinkhill

The Planning Advance Notice has been issued for the proposed residential development on the site of the former ST Microelectronics building in Pinkhill Park, an early stage in the planning process. The developers, Dandara, have lodged proposals for a seven-storey apartment block. Local residents were able to find out more about the plans at public exhibitions in January and early March.
