Communal Household and Recycling Bins

There has been an increasing number of complaints about over-flowing communal bins in densely-populated areas like Stockbridge.

This is being caused by a number of factors including more people working from home, an increased volume of online shopping and deliveries, increased usage of take away cups, the closure of Craigleith recycling centre, many lockdown home improvement projects and a sadly under-resourced Council service.

Hal Osler said, ”I can fully understand how upsetting it is for residents to have overflowing bins outside their windows and I am working with the waste department to increase the number of pickups and provide more units in the most badly affected areas. If you are experiencing issues in your area please do let me know.”
