The Scottish Government’s Reporter has decided to refuse the application for a change of use of the Cluny Centre as a conference and wedding venue.
The applicant had appealed to the Scottish Government’s Planning and Environmental Appeals Division (DPEA) and this has now been formally decided. The decision was made on the grounds of unacceptable levels of noise along with the negative impacts of traffic and parking on the amenity of neighbouring residents. Further details can be found on the DPEA website www.dpea.scotland.gov.uk under reference PPA-230-2232.
What happens now?
Local residents have suggested possible alternative uses for the Cluny Centre. I intend to contact the owner to discuss them.
I will also ask the owner to tidy up the slabbed area outside the building, as it looks neglected.
