Thursday 18th February was budget day for the City of Edinburgh Council. All parties presented their fully-costed budgets for the year from April 2021.
Hal Osler said, “We are all aware that there will never be enough money or resources to fix or improve everything, which is why it is so important that we use all our resources wisely. Having listened to our communities the Lib Dem budget had 5 key aims: supporting those hardest hit by COVID, reversing school budget cuts, fixing our damaged paths, pavements and roads, investing in our parks and greenspaces and protecting Community Policing.
"Our budget was out-voted but I will continue to hold the SNP/Labour Administration to account and push them to invest properly in the welfare of residents and the fabric of our city too.”
The SNP/Labour budget was passed and included cuts to school funding, community Policing, an increase in the garden tax and no new money for pavement and road repairs.
