Bin Hubs are coming to Bellevue and Hillside

Despite concerns, councillors have today voted to roll-out the new hubs.

We're broadly supportive of the scheme but recognised the challenges we've seen during the initial rollout in Leith including bins placed outside people's windows. Councillor Jack Caldwell and fellow Edinburgh Liberal Democrats councillors read through the hundreds of public objections around Bellevue, Hillside and across the City and submitted a modest amendment to re-review some, such as on Bellevue Road. This was unfortunately voted down by Labour, the SNP and the Greens.
After the vote, Councillor Jack Caldwell said;
"I am all-to-aware of the issue putting bins outside people's doors has caused my Leith constituents and am deeply distressed the Council voted to do the same for my Broughton constituents. On the bright-side, the more frequent collections are a net-positive, and have considerably improved capacity around Leith, Pilrig and Bonnington where they were already rolled-out (pre-strike). I'll continue to constructively engage with the Waste Teams and residents to sort out any issues going forward."
