All four schools saved in Pentland Hills

Lib Dem vote tips the balance in favour of keeping all four schools in Pentland Hills open.

After carefully considering the evidence and deputations from all parties, the Lib Dem group in Edinburgh Council supported Option 1 when voting in the Education, Children and Families committee, which has resulted in Currie High School, Woodlands School, Balerno High School and Wester Hailes Education Centre all staying open.

The Council Administration is now formally consulting on catchment area changes with residents living in Kinleith Mill, Blinkbonny, Kirkgate, Cherry Trees and Dalmahoy.

It is also seeking to secure additional funding to rebuild Currie High School and rebuild or refurbish Balerno High School and Wester Hailes Education Centre as part of its Wave 4 Infrastructure Investment Programme from prudential borrowing and from the Scottish Government.
